I was thinking about how funny it is that all of the Bluth men except Buster have family names (George, Michael, and Oscar) but it turns out Buster kinda does. Cause his legal first name is Byron. Let me talk about Lord Byron, the most famous Byron, for a minute.
Lord Byron had the first name George, which was given to him by his mother since his biological father was absent and she didn’t want him named after someone who wasn’t there to raise him. He reportedly had a strange relationship with his mother, who switched frequently between spoiling and coddling him and being petty and stubborn toward him, which is suspected to be at least in part because she was a heavy drinker. Lord Byron also had a deformed right foot, which his mother gave him trouble for. He loved the sea and is considered the father of open ocean swimming as a sport. I could go on, but I won’t.
I know this is a stretch and might not even be intentional but it’s so good. They indirectly named him George while also drawing so many parallels.
He’s a scholar. He enjoys scholarly pursuits.
@anonymous-tals requested headcanons about the Bluth siblings as kids, so here's some of that! It gets long, so I'm putting most of it under the cut.
They had family game nights. George started mandating them so he could get photos and publicize them as a happy family but the kids actually got really into it and kept playing board games together even once their parents ducked out.
Lindsay was George’s little princess, especially as a preteen and teenager. He wasn’t always the best at showing it in ways other than buying her things, but he loved that girl so much.
Oscar came by for every single one of Buster’s birthdays, and he brought little presents. He wasn’t nearly as good at remembering the other kids, but nobody read too deep into it. Blatant favoritism is normal in this family.
Speaking of birthdays, Michael and Lindsay always got the best birthday parties because they had to share. Also because they were George’s favorites, but the sharing was the excuse everyone actually said out loud.
GOB’s birthdays tended to go forgotten or ignored by his parents, but Buster has never once forgotten him, Lindsay was usually pretty good about at least being around and wishing him a good one, and Michael would organize little celebrations if Buster bugged him about it. Which he always did, and which Michael always got to feel like a hero for.
Thinking about Buster growing up
If this post gets even one like I will write up my self indulgent analysis of Buster Bluth and Why He Wouldn’t Do That.
Oops, I lied about sending all my questions in one, I thought of an actually specific question and not just a super general one five seconds after sending the ask:
Do you have any neurodivergent hcs for Buster and Gob(or other characters if you hc anyone else as neurodivergent)?
This is such a good question!! Okay!! It got long so I'm putting it under the cut, but TLDR: undiagnosed comorbid autistm and ADHD for both of them plus ADHD Tony Wonder :) I forced myself not to get into it with the rest of the Bluths cause this post would be a mile long but i did put cursory thoughts about them in the tags. All of this is spitballing and I'm definitely open to hearing other opinions!
