Someone came into my Asks to lecture me about how I phrased something, that it was offensive and I shouldn't write that way.
I pointed out that she was projecting, since she inferred the offensive meaning all on her own, like any Rorschach test. She'd told on herself, and was now actively confessing to me the fact that's how she thinks.
I waved her off in my Asks, but she subsequently sidled into my DMs to lecture me some more, and that's when I noticed something I hadn't initially.
She doesn't even follow me.
This is the exact same attitude I've previously had from the conventionally religious lecturing me about not saying bad things about Jesus, Muhammad, and all their various gods. Because it's rude and offensive and disrespectful or whatever.
This is what the sanctimonious church ladies with their lips pursed into a cat's bum did with video games and comic books and "rock 'n' roll" – and probably harpischords and rock paintings at the time – who wouldn't be happy until everyone was as miserable and joyless as they are.
They're not my audience. I don't have to make them happy because they're not ever even going to follow me. That will never, ever happen. And they never, ever will be happy.
This is the same thing. This nag would never follow me anyway, no matter how I accommodated her sensibilities. Which, obviously, would only escalate. So, what possible reason could I have to comply with her demands?
Which brings me to a much larger point.
This is how society, and particularly culture, has gotten into the state it's in now. This church lady attitude of lecturing people to conform to their personal - and often ridiculous or outright insane - sensibilities has become normalized.

Western gaming companies are in collapse because they changed games to accommodate the sensibilities of activists who don't even play their games. And won't.
Disney subverted and replaced all their legacy Marvel characters with derivative girlboss and DEI replacements just to satisfy people who don't watch Marvel anyway.
Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings... the list goes on. They've all been vandalized to appeal to a different audience that isn't going to watch it anyway.
The people who cheered on The Acolyte, The Marvels, Snow White and all the other appalling slop that's been excreted from Hollywood lately didn't watch The Acolyte, The Marvels, Snow White or the slop. They just want to make sure that the people who do want to watch Star Wars, Marvel or Disney productions are subjected to something that was sharted out in compliance with their sensibilities.
Which is why nobody showed up.
The traditional customer bases of these franchises are regularly told, "it's not for you." Clearly not. And the reason they're collapsing is that it should be.
But "it's not for you" is the correct answer.
It's just that it should be given in response to the squealing modern day church ladies who want to dictate terms for things they're not even a part of, solely on the basis that it offends them. Or, so they claim.
It's not for you. You do not get to demand that you be included in everything.
It's really easy: fuck off you obnoxious, entitled, interfering bint. My blog isn't for you.
Then you block and ignore them and carry on with what you're doing.
