Akis Petretzikis constantly innovates with new products and fresh books. At the same time, he is becoming increasingly established in public awareness as a connoisseur in modern Greek cooking. His book aims to become a reference point of the traditional and modern Greek cuisine through its hundreds of favorite recipes and its timeless, friendly design. We focused on a “Greek” white and blue color palette to highlight tradition and authenticity. Familiar photos with playful illustrative interventions, hand-written notes by Akis and a minimal design create a more personal look and feel and present a contemporary, youthful outcome.

Wema από την busybuilding

Wema is a new food concept that opened in March 2018 in the neighbourhood of Nea Ionia in Athens. An ambassador of food goodness and healthy eating, Wema redefines the lunchbreak by preparing awesome food with respect to the holistic effects of nutrition. On the menu you'll find wellness-conscious dishes that are full of tastiness and pure goodness, "as nature intended". busybuilding designed the overall identity, packaging and menus for Wema, inspired by its noble mission to prepare exceptionally healthy food and inspire people to choose a healthier lifestyle. The logo consists of just the brand name designed as a stencil, so that it can be easily used on packaging, signage and communication tools easily and in eco-friendly ways. The colour palette is earthy and natural, as a reference to the brand name's African origins and its mission to promote a healthy, natural lifestyle. For the restaurant's menu, busybuilding collaborated with Wema founders to name all dishes and structure the menu in sections. Since the menu brochure is one of the restaurant's main communication tools, it has been carefully designed to convey the brand's philosophy and ethos, combined with inspirational food photography created in collaboration with Dimitris Poupalos. The tone of voice is fun, humorous and friendly, encouraging customers to join the Wema movement!

Akis Petretzikis — Burger AP, από την busybuilding .

Burger AP is a new street-food restaurant by chef Akis Petretzikis, and the latest chapter in his appetising endeavours. Being huge fans of Akis’ work, we were more than thrilled to be part of this new concept restaurant offering a more eclectic and millennial-oriented take on the classic American burger experience (cue tempura crab burgers, truffle oil corn and sweet potato desserts). We created a custom visual universe by designing an illustration per each hero product. These illustrations formed the basis of every application, including printed menus and signage, spatial graphics, website, packaging and merch. We decided to go full-on experimental with the website design, and create an online version of the menu that complements the food experience and brings the dishes to life. The website is full of fun animations, illustrations and a playful layout that looks and feels like a social media feed with Burger AP’s recipes. We based the restaurant’s visual identity, signage and packaging on the amplification of all the elements we designed, including the logo, the verbal identity and the custom illustrations. The overall look & feel is in tune with the chef’s age, popularity and personality and therefore pop, urban-casual and friendly. At the same time, it reflects the menu's unique twist and the store's overall comfort feel. National Theatre of Greece, 2016-2018 από την busybuilding .

We were commissioned by the National Theatre of Greece to create a system for visualising its productions for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 main seasons. For us, visual communication for the arts is an extension of the creative experience into the public space, so we wanted to somehow extend each play’s meanings and symbolisms into the city through our work. We used illustration for all posters and catalogue covers, with a symbol that relates to each play's theme but always has a twist that creates a second, uncanny layer of meaning to it. For the performance catalogues we opted for a combination of photography and typography in the body, and custom illustration and premium papers for the covers.
