My friend's parents are always saying things to him like: "Don't bring home a Fujinese/southern/poor/non prestigiously schooled girl." & I just don't know what to say because my parents would probably be relieved for literally any woman to be interested in me. &&&&& I remember my ex girlfriend's parents always telling her, (in front of me): "You can date him but you can't marry him." They insisted she marry a Bengali muslim, then later it seemed they'd be happy for her to marry a muslim, now they tell her she can marry anyone as long as they convert to Islam but she herself says, she/living in Britain, have worn them down to the point that they'll be happy as long as she gets married at all. So, there's hope? I honestly do not know what to say when they talk about this stuff to me & I feel like a bad friend because I have zero advice & I know it upsets them & I am this useless blob who is supposed to justify the British perspective so they can go tell their parents my succinct wisdom but literally everything that comes in to my brain is just ignorant, insensitive condescending shite. So I say barely anything. I genuinely don't understand & I can't sum it up or make it digestible for their parents & I don't want to be a dick but I feel the best thing for me to do is just listen & do/say nothing?

You know how there’s a certain charm when people from any other country wear their flag's colors, but when Americans do it somehow it seems a lot more overbearing and crass?
This is kind of what it feels like buying Gryffindor merchandise for yourself.
I love SPRAY.
