I had an extremely difficult time admitting I was an adult, for the simple fact that it took away the language I used to use to describe my gender- and I still haven't found a replacement.

The conversation used to go like this:

Me: "No, I'm not a boy or a girl." Someone: "Then what are you?" Me: "I'm a kid!" Them: "Haha, that you are."

At some point, the conversation started going like this:

Someone: "If you're not a man or a woman, then what are you?" Me: "I'm a kid!" "You're literally 30, no you're not. What are you?" "I'm...a. I'm a person." "Yes but what kind?" "I'm an adult?" "Yes, but what kind?" "The human kind." "But what gender are you?" "I'm not. I'm just...a kid." :(
