Hello artist-help! Would you have any tutorials on how to create neutral/simple backgrounds?
Heya! Apologies for getting through these questions kinda late - I always tag q’s and usernames so if you’re not sure if I answered you got the option to check up later!
Well, when I think of a neutral background, I think of when an artist sometimes uses that sort of a plain brown tint as a background to work on….
BTW I did do a brief search of “simple background tutorial" and a lot referred to the good ole “whop on a cool texture on the bottom layer and maybe tint it a nice colour" method, which is basically what the brown “butchers paper" effect I'm suggesting is. If you’re already familiar with all that then I guess you’re asking for simple background elements to add to the picture, like actual physical sceneries?
But yeah, besides looking cool, using a neutral brown colour is certainly a lot more relaxing (and interesting) to work on than using pure, stark, glare-y white. Search up something like "character design sheet" and you'll know what I mean - its just a nice replacement for boring white, but not too complicated.
So yeah, I’m sorry I couldnt really return you a specific tutorial, but I hope that was at least somewhat you were looking for, otherwise feel free to elaborate with me further!
