How to Make a Butt Sculpture
Butt Sculpture is the project I threw myself into while I was becoming too sick to work. I hope that the story of how I got from a foolish idea to a nearly-life-sized sculpture of a butt is both entertaining and informative.

I have created a Mini Butt! Sculpture! It is also a Space Butt, because why not?
This has been a fun experiment, to see if I can make a smaller version of Butt Sculpture that might be easier to sell. I have learnt much by doing this.
Can I do a mini-version of Butt Sculpture? Yes. It will take about 9 hours.
Does Mini Butt work painted as a Space Butt? I think so.
Is this practically something I could produce lots of? Probably not at the moment. I've only been able to do this in small bits of time - half and hour every few days, and I still crashed quite a bit.
I would need to sell this for at least £140, and I don't know if anyone would pay that. I will continue doing small clay sculptures, maybe I can accumulate a few over time.
I have started adding a glaze to Butt Sculpture.

I'm not sure whether I like it or not on just one coat, but it needed protecting, so mega shiny butt was the only way to go.
It is HELLACIOUS trying to keep bubbles and dust out of the glaze. It probably wouldn't matter so much if it weren't white, but it is!
At the end of the day this project was always going to be a collaboration between my skill and my spoons, and my spoons were always going to let the side down. The imperfections will be a part of what it is: a sculpture of a butt made by a very sick person who really, really wanted a butt.

There was a spider ON my BUTT.
I was MOST DISPLEASED.
It was making a web! The cheek!
The wet clay work is DONE.
The finishing (sanding, painting) remains (and I get to see how badly it cracks when it's properly dry 😭) but this means the really messy part is over and I can move it indoors before the thunderstorms due tomorrow.
It's really heavy now. Nearly 8kg of clay. It was actually a real work out shaping it. I must have spent 50 hours on it already.
Never let me do anything like this again.
