these little hooks were used to aid in the fastening of buttons on gloves and shoes/boots. amongst the many little antiques and vintage items that i collect from thrift shops and yard sales, i have several of these. everyday items from everyday people, and i get lost in the daydreaming about how many hands touched this over the years.
i recently picked this particular piece out of a pile of trinkets at my favourite thrift store that's ran by sweet little older ladies. they have perfect hair and strong perfume and i find a lot of comfort in their prescence. no matter what's happening during my day, i feel myself relax when i go to visit with them. they seem as fascinated with my emotional connection to little pieces of antique ephemera, just as i am fascinated with them.
