The script is now done and currently being edited. Unfortunately, we have slipped a bit on the dates we hoped to meet for milestones. I'll probably need to make a new schedule soon.

But, hey... If we take until May to finish, we can submit it for Otome Jam!

Stuck in a Yandere Visual Novel... HELP!!

Okay, I may have dropped the ball on this 💦 I got the script to my editor/proofreader and they did amazing!! They finished reviewing well before the deadline they gave themself, but I didn't realize that lol;; So I could've started scripting a lot earlier, but I didn't;;

I was really hoping to finish the entire project by the end of March, but since March has 3 days left, that probably isn't possible. But, it should be done soon. I just have 20k words to script...

But other than that, all the art has been programmed in! (Until I decide I want more animation during CG moments lol

Other Fanworks

I won't go into a lot of detail for this, but since it took a lot of my time the past few weeks, I decided to add it here as accomplishments.

(I think I wrote over 10k words in gifts the past couple weeks.)

A Sky of Falling Birds

The script for this has been finished for a while so I thought I'd start making some sketch sprite work for it. I still don't know for sure what sort of visual theme I want to use for the game so I didn't get very far.

[Peter Pan Project]

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun a bit, but since SYVNH is coming to a finish, I started thinking about what future projects to do. This idea was something I came up with on a whim last year and I decided to revisit it to see what I can possibly make out of it.

It'll likely be shorter than SYVNH (read: for my sanity, future me, please make it shorter) and is inspired by Peter Pan. It'll be a BL so we have Wendell as our main character, exploring a fictional Victorian-esque kingdom. I'm still debating on the routes and gameplay.

The visual themes for this project are inspired by Pandora Hearts, D. Gray-Man, and possibly Smokin' Parade.

Mmm, yeah most of my days in the past 2 weeks was rushing to finish the demo for BAF VN Jam... 😅 It really destroyed my sanity because... I basically did 6 illustrations (4 of which planned as animations, and 1 was actually a 3 character sprite with a my minimum set of expressions!) for 2.2k+ word demo...

But sometimes, sanity is only holding you back. One day I hope to make a truly cinematic game so this is just the first step. This is just practice for what's to come...

(Or something.)

The demo was quite rushed so I hope to give it an update before the year ends to really show the vision I had for it.

Unfortunately, the deadline for Otome Jam was the same as BAF VN Jam, at least in my timezone it was the same day. So I had to make a choice as to which one to focus on.

We still made quite a bit of progress over the past month! The script is going through the end of the editing process and over halfway through proofreading!

Okay, no lie, I want to take a break this week. But marketing waits for no one...!! And also O2A2 starts in a week.

A Sky of Falling Birds

You all have spoiled me with the attention you've given SYVNH, I've forgotten how important it is to start marketing the moment a jam starts. Luckily Arimia has instilled the basics into everyone in the server so I had some ideas to fall back to. It's pretty squished and I've still got a lot of work to do.

Since I originally penned the script for SFB, I had the bold idea to do some animation. It was intended to be cinematic and test my skills in animating. Well, that was before I made deadlines for myself and before considering commercialization of... any of my work.

So for what I planned to show off in the demo, I had to go back and reconsider some of the fight scenes, which I wanted to animate. I'll focus more on renpy based animations. Still simple, but hopefully still cinematic enough to entertain.

The demo is currently planned for 4 short animations like this and 2 CGs, with 2k words. I think the only things I'm testing right now is my speed, sanity, and stamina.

Pre-Make

Will this tiny game ever be finished? It's time to take a break again to meet deadlines on other projects.

The art is almost completely done now. I just have the most difficult one left... drawing a Victorian town square that'll only be used for one scene.

I mark down all my dev tasks each week, it's how I can make all these devlogs. This is probably only the second time ever where 2 weeks worth of tasks filled an entire page. Usually I only manage half a page or a three-quarters of a page.

✨Weekly Progress #10✨

Wrote 1.9k words for BWBOK

Made a test live 2d model...

Look what happens when I do make a weekly update... It looks like I barely did anything lol. And okay, fair, I probably could've done more.

I wanted to force myself to finish the script for BWBOK though, so I let last week be devoted to it. I planned to add three new scenes to the finished script from last year, including one more ending.

Unfortunately, I had pretty severe writer's block so progress moved slowly.

Why did I include something about a live 2d model?

idk, it felt too lonely to only have one item on the list. 😶 The model was terrible and cursed, but I got it to move...!
