you walk down the long, cold metal corridor, the light in your hand the only thing piercing the darkness, for minutes that seem to stretch and coalesce into hours, where you hear a rattling sound up ahead. you know this spaceship to be abandoned. you walk closer still, footsteps echoing, until your light shines on a broken down robot, its spindly limbs stretching across the floor with all its height. it beeps and his eye activates when it hears you, jumpy skittery moves that make that same rattling noise as before. its voice box is obviously defective, but you can still make put the words it's saying to you, past the crackling: greetings. it is balls in his mouth bwednesday. you sigh and shake your head. another one, huh? now you know what's happened here. nothing else you can do.
you keep walking.
