i don't get why kinky boots is made fun of/not taken seriously?? like, ok, it's got a pretty ridiculous title, and the music and lyrics are by pop star cyndi lauper, and it's about a drag queen but it's actually about two men who must come to terms with the past, present, and future of their lives and especially their relationships with their fathers. it's about self discovery, love, and acceptance on all levels. the music is a perfect mixture of catchy dance numbers and deep, moving pieces about what it's like to be a 'disappointment', among other things. i mean, this show won TONYS including BEST MUSICAL and it's still regarded by some as a cheap, silly little musical? hell no. also it's a true story and billy porter is also god so

big fish the musical is one of those that at first you think is just pretty good but then it sticks with you and you fall in love with it
