Ivory Gardens (Soulmate AU)
Love seemed impossible to find. It just was inexistent...every boy had his eyes set on another girl with a sparkling, flaring dress. How was I to find someone? I was just a maiden...a poor one, too. No money, I just survived by myself, selling bread and flowers, just everyday things to survive. "Flowers for your wife, sir?" I asked, holding out blue hued flowers. "No thanks." He sneered and kept walking. I crumbled on the ground, the stairs of the courthouse actually, and just thought how I might possibly die today. Seems much a relief. That was until I looked down at my wrist and saw, small, in black, onyx ink. "5 o'clock. Ivory Gardens." What. What. WHAT. The only time people get a tattoo is if they're going to meet their soulmate. It's impossible. I looked up, ignoring the heavy glare, and saw the sun was straight up; high in the sky. It must've been....2 or 3? I didn't really pay attention and I didn't have enough money for a pocket watch. Either way, I was going to be at Ivory Gardens. (Eliza's P.O.V) I was excited. Tonight was the dance! The 'Winter's Ball'. All of the best suitors would be there. I had already picked out my dress, an arctic blue, accented with shimmering cerulean hues, and a trim of lace at the bottom the colour of freshly fallen snow on a winters eve. It was going to be perfect. My sisters, Angelica and Peggy, had also picked out their dresses. I ignored the pinch of the corset and walked out to where the final preparations were being made. Everything seemed to glitter in the afternoon light. Until I looked at my arm. '5, Ivory Garden." In curly script. Five was the exact time the party was to start...but meeting my soulmate? That was something I couldn't miss. Me, Eliza Schuyler, finding the love of my life. "DAD!!LOOK!" I half whispered/shouted. He took my arm and stared at the marking with bulging brown eyes. "You must go!" "But the dance." "It doesn't matter. I want you to meet them. It might be the only chance." (5 o'clock) (Your P.O.V) Here I am. Ivory gardens, surrounded by porcelain lilies and frosty daisies. I sat down on the bench, and looked over. A girl, in a blue dress, elegant mind you, looking around, confused. I anxiously looked down at my arm. The tattoo was disappearing. Fading into inky transparency. "Hey! Are you..meeting someone?" I asked her. She looking down at her arm also, and my heart began to race. "You?" She murmured. "You?!" I screeched almost, and approached cautiously took her hand in mine. "It's okay." She looked overjoyed. I don't remember much but dancing in a large golden room after her lips locked on mine.
Forbidden Love
Summary: Reader Meets Eliza at the Winter's Ball, but soon after is forced to go to war as a nurse. After the battle of Yorktown, the war is over and Reader promises never to leave her side...with another, different promise. Pairing: Eliza Schuyler x Reader ~ The suiters at the ball didn't catch my eye. None of the flashing golden buttons, glimmering army pins, or slick black belts seemed to cut it. Except one that stood out from them all. ... "Excuse me." I muttered, attempted to press my way through the crowd of corsets and stocky men, no avail. I felt someone take my waist, and begin to dance. There was no point now. "Who are you?" I asked the man bluntly. "Aaron Burr." He replied with a smooth voice. "That's nice." I muttered distractedly, watching a female get swept away by men. "Excuse me, I must go...er, to my husbands table." I grinned at how witty my excuse was, smirking to myself as I slipped away from his gentle grip. I watched the brunette dance, her vibrant blue dress, along with sparkling hues of purple and navy. Finally, tired it looked, she stopped dancing, politely excusing herself to the chestnut-haired man dancing with her, as he strut away, poised. "Hello!" I exclaimed to her; cheerfully and slightly out of breath. "Hi!" She replied, fixing her attention on me. I did my best to remain poise and collected, but the moment she looked at me I began to blush. "So, would you like to get something?" I flicked my hand towards the refreshments. ... "That's really interesting!" Eliza whispered, eyes glittering. She looked happier then she had been with any of the men. "Would you like to dance..?" At this point I might have been a bit cocky, but hey. She was freaking beautiful AND she liked me for who I was! "Do you think they'd allow it?" Eliza looked around, wary, and somewhat scared for someone to point out the true relationship behind the two females. "Who gives a damn?" I asked her, smirking. "Tr-" "Ooh!" I took her waist, hard with the corset underneath, and began to dance with her. We wove in and out of the couples, lacing an invisible trace containing love in every single step; every time pressure was put on the foot to step, i would lift her off her feet again. It was a mass of lilac-magenta iridescently gleaming, and cobalt and sky blue twirling together. Together, a paradox of forbidden love, silently displayed, yet louder then the room. Louder then the blasting music, louder then the kisses of girl and boys. Yet never heard. ~ 1781 ~ 6 Months Later ~ I haven't seen Eliza in four months. I've been flooding her with letters though; every single day I am writing at least two notes of my devotion, my ink flying over a piece of scratchy parchment, hoping they'd get to her concrete doorstep in time. I am an army nurse. I had to go with the troops or I'd loose my job. I was currently in a small town named Yorktown, and it was rumoured that this fight would end it all. ... "Quick! They've surrendered! The Redcoats!" A small boy screamed through the thick wool medical tent, and I shuffled outside, my eyes adjusting to the bright light as sunshine bore on my skin, scanning the proximity. There were dead bodies askew, some barely breathing, but further down, near the river, the General was exchanging words with a man in a crimson outfit, the blue coats doing there very bust to not scream out in complete and utter glee. "Help!" A faint voice muttered, just loud enough for my ears to hear it. (Many months of practising for war has it's perks). I whipped around to see blood pouring out of a soldiers wounds, soaking his uniform to a dark purple. I immediately soothed him and took out a needle, an appropriately sized stitching device, trying not to breathe in the heavy scent of metallic blood. Thank heavens this fight is over. ... I looked down at my patchy white dress, seeing pink-red spatters all over it. I didn't care. I looked into the distance of New York, seeing many people rushing over, hugging, kissing, crying; in fact, John Laurens and Alexander Hamilton had just shared their first kiss. I sighed and felt my chest heave in defeat, but suddenly, I saw a pale blue dress over the horizon. Dark hair tied back, and while the sun was behind her, it gave the stray hairs a golden glow, like a halo for the angel she was. I felt like I was running on air when we met in between. "Never leave me alone!" Eliza laughed, tears streaming in down her cheeks. "Never!" I replied, kissing her cheek. I felt the small article I had in my pocket weigh me down. "Eliza?" I questioned, my features looking hopeful. "Yes?" She looked over at me, slight confusion playing on her face. "Will you marry me?" I dropped down to one knee, my heart racing. She covered her mouth with her hands. "Yes!" Her voice was a high pitch now, cracking slightly. I loved her...I loved; forbidden love.
