for fanfic friday: what's your favorite thing about your own writing?
Hi darlin', thanks for the ask!!!
This is a really good question and one that is really difficult to answer. I'm literally the HARSHEST critic of my of own writing.
That being said, sometimes I think I can be pretty good with descriptive moments, if that makes sense. Where characters are taking something in, I guess? Here's a snippet from the last chapter of NSQSA that I really like that will hopefully kinda show what I mean (words are hard)
"There were other differences too. Henry's fingers were not as long as his and they'd clearly had a harder life, even though he was not much older. They bore signs of learning to forge, with scars along his wrists and arms from where he'd been burned. Hans found himself wanting to trace his fingertips over each one, asking Henry how it had happened, but he didn't. His knuckles were scarred too, the skin there rough and dry and cracked in places. He wondered how many fights he'd been in recently, or how many fights he'd been in before their fight when they met. The bruise Henry had left on him that night had long since vanished but the memory still had him flexing his jaw to test for the ache.
The thing that stuck out to him the most, however, was the thin, pale line that wrapped around his pinky finger. Henry had once told him he only wore the ring from his Skalitz sweetheart on special occasions, but judging from the faint tan line it seemed that perhaps he wore it more often than he had let on."
