Actually, I think that both Lucas and Will had a crush on each other when they were younger.

Being super happy at the thought of seeing each other, doing little hops from happiness before hugging each other, standing close to each other, helping each other’s characters in dnd, etc.

They had a lot of feelings for each other, but they were also too young to even know that it’s possible to feel something like love for your same-sex friend. They just always thought of it as a really deep friendship.
