Teachers to Betsy DeVos on her way out of office
Jill Biden, a community college professor, says that if her husband, former Vice President Joe Biden, is elected president and she becomes first lady, she plans to continue her work as a teacher.
Today was a huge victory for America’s public schools.
Your vote for Biden helped us to remove an out-of-touch billionaire with ten yachts as Secretary of Education. Biden has promised to replace her with a former public school teacher.
Your vote for Biden also brought a teacher to the White House where she will serve as First Lady and an educator at a community college.
I am thinking of all of the public school teachers and support professionals working multiple jobs or simply not getting paid enough for their hard work.
I am thinking of the students of color who deserve to be treated equally by invested anti-racist educators, the students with disabilities who need better support and the funding to back it, the students living in poverty who need to be free of ‘lunch debt,’ and the alumni of public colleges who are buried in student loan debt, and I am thinking of every single voter who supported them and their futures by voting Biden in this election.
As a public school teacher, THANK YOU for voting to support our public schools. You have made a difference to millions of students nationwide.

Usually I’m annoyed by targeted advertising or suggested content on social media (though I do appreciate sometimes the wtf-ery of Tumblr’s ad algorithms).
