“New Years Kiss”

Genevieve adjusted the 2018 crown that sat upon her head and turned her head to smile at Clara, “ready for the countdown?!” She asked and laced her fingers with Clara’s. Just as she turned her head back to the crowd, her ears were filled with the shouting of numbers from the party around them. A grin stretched across her lips as she joined in with the countdown, her hand squeezing Clara’s even tighter. 

The moment the countdown hit zero and the clock struck midnight, she heard the cheers and the poppers go off and she turned her eyes to Clara. She leaned in to press her lips gently to those of her favorite person in the entirety of the universe. Genevieve’s hands came up to rest on Clara’s cheeks as she melted into her. It felt like the entire world went silent in this moment, just as it always did when she got the chance to kiss her best friend. She pulled away just a little and smiled brightly, “Happy New Year, Clara.” // @bcbrave

I let someone in who couldn’t stand my taste in music or film. Who wouldn’t even try. I cried to someone who told me my anxiety wasn’t real and who tensed when I talked about my mental health. All these little things I didn’t realize until I told him how I felt and he put me on a shelf for later- just in case. 

I stayed because I thought for the first time I had met someone who made me feel like I didn’t have to run when things got bad- but I realized that it was just me getting stronger.
