The instinct had taken over faster than he expected when he kicked the guy away from Tifa. In all honesty, if mommy hadn’t spoken Kumon might have actually brutally attacked the man. It was mommy’s voice that brought him somewhat back into reality.
Wait... How had he gotten from where mommy was to where the downed meanie was so quickly? Also, what did he even do for the taller man to end up like that? Kumon looked up at mommy in confusion, slit pupils looking around in a daze. What was he doing?
Oh! He went downstairs for a glass of water from the bar’s fridge when he saw the guy ready to hurt mommy. Red filled his vision until he came back to his senses from mommy’s voice.
Oh no... Did he hurt the guy he saw trying to attack mommy?
A groan next to him made the puppy yelp in surprise before backing away in horror. His pupils had returned to their normal round shape, and he looked absolutely ashamed as his ears fell flat against his head.
Wait... Where were his blankie and chocobo plush, Lady? He was carrying both downstairs when the event happened. Did he drop them?
There! He had dropped them at the bottom of the stairs. Quickly he ran to pick them up and hug them tight, tears falling from his eyes. It must have been confusing for the newcomers to see a six year old boy kick a man more than twice his size across the room at full force in Chocobo pattern pajamas. Some may have even found it amusing.
The tingling sensation at the back of Kumon’s head told him that most if not all eyes were on him. The bar was dead silent.
With a whimper, he scurried behind the counter and hid in any space big enough to hold him comfortably as he whispered constant apologies.
“Sorry sorry sorry oh god I didn’t mean to!”
