just lying in bed thinking about Astarion that’s been hiding another, more personal reason he wants so desperately to ascend: the thought that Tav won’t want him anymore if he can’t perpetuate the life in the daylight that they’ve been enjoying thus far. that he’s somehow stumbled onto two miracles—to be a daywalker, and to have somebody love him, truly—only to be haunted by the realization, the fear, that he cannot maintain both. he thinks he’s got the answer, the salve for all these horrible cursed outcomes he’s trying to outrun. he doesn’t realize that Tav would willingly come to him every night until death, that Tav thinks the moonlight suits him beautifully, that Tav clings to shadows because they have always offered their comfort. he doesn’t realize how unconditional love can be.
