A honey-samplin bee boy and a field-roamin mystery gal
Can you tell me more about Candy?
Candy is a bit of a mystery, but she’s an entity known to several clans in multiple regions, but only really to those who have some sort of system of agriculture. She’s not exactly a dragon, though she might sometimes take on the guise of one. No one’s really certain what she truly is, and very few actually ever manage to catch a close glimpse of her in their lifetime. A solitary pair of glowing eyes in the fields at night could very well be her, but who would ever be brave or naive enough to go out there and check?
Some think she’s a myth, or a seasonal tall-tale meant to inspire to share crops with others or give back to the land, but those who work in and manage the fields themselves take her very seriously. Failing to leave a gift out in your fields for Candy is considered a huge mistake or faux pas among farmers and ranchers alike.
What are you supposed to leave for her, you may ask, and the answer is different for everyone. Some leave baskets of crops they’ve harvested early, others leave preserved/canned crops from the previous year, some even leave money or small effigies. She’ll accept what she wants to accept. It all depends.
What does she leave in return, you might also ask. Sometimes farmers will harvest their fields, only to come back to an egg sitting on their doorstep. Sometimes they’ll find whatever they’d left as a gift in the fields several years ago. Occasionally there will be strange seeds or bones. Sometimes there is seemingly nothing. Perhaps there will be candy.
And now Candy has a face! And once again, as usual, viperfishy adds yet another non-dragon to her collection of dragons
