Two prideful octo-mers. Deep and Current.
They had everything. They had a kingdom. They had loyal subjects. They had people--other mer-folk--that loved them. They were happily living away from dragons, only coming up to the surface rarely to trade with them. They had absolutely everything...
And in the blink of an eye, it was taken away from them.
A dragon had followed them into their sanctuary. That dragon had others come follow him. The group delivered terror and death, as they tore through the kingdom that Deep and Current had. In the end, they had all scattered. Some were dead. Some were captured.
The two of them were among the captured.
It didn’t take long for someone to buy them. To throw them into a tank, and put them on display, like a simple goldfish. That dragon happened to be Janto; Emperor of the Executrix Empire. They were delivered to him, in good faith. As an offering. Janto has the two of them on display in his throne room, in a gigantic aquarium. Another showing of his power.
To his credit, the tank is large enough for the two of them, and then some...but they’re meant to be free. They are not pets, they are sentient beings, and deserve to be free! But all attempts of escape have been met with resistance and violence. So, they wait. They bide their time. They will get free. They will reunite their people once more.
They’re patient. They’ll be patient for as long as they need to be...
