Daze wouldn't necessarily say that he's either. In my opinion, he's more optimistic than he lets on, but at the same time he has those moments of pessimism that aren't even intentional. They just sort of come out. He tries to think of everything in the best light and hopes for the best, but he also knows that he has to think realistically about life, especially now that he's gotten this second chance to experience things. He says that the first go around he was more pessimistic than optimistic and now he's trying to change that this time, but I think that he was always pretty optimistic. He just got dragged down into some heavier things which left him seeing things in a more negative light.
