Thank Merlin for Sundays, they came with a certain sense of ease and comfort. From her recent transition back into the Ministry of Magic after five years, having a day to breath and spend time with her son, Jasper felt like a slice of heaven. Sade tried to pick something memorable, from a bit of time outside, a trip to the zoo or a journey into muggle London. Hopeful that Jasper would remember the moments of fun, and laughter. Rather than the rushed mornings of her heading out to work after an early drop-off at the daycare facility. Other moments, when Jasper would curl against her on the sofa, or utter a silent, "I love you," as he fell asleep. Those were the moments where she beamed with pride. She was a single mother, and simply doing her best.
As Jasper's laughter radiated across Hogsmeade, as he pointed to the leaping chocolate frogs and speeding sugar quills in the window display of Honeydukes. Reaching into her handbag to pull out a a galleon and a few sickles. Sade smiled, leaning down to press them into Jasper's hand. Smoothing out the shoulders of his t-shirt. "Go ahead, go get some sweets for after dinner. It'll be our Sunday treat." She gushed. In an instant, he was off. Sade was left to do nothing other than beckon after him, "Darling, be quick - and be polite." The door of the shop closed.
Sade remained closeto the door, keeping the entrance in her direct eye line. A slight nervous disposition overcoming her. Distracted by searching for the top of her son's head in the window of the shop. Sade stepped backwards to get a better view. Unaware of the person making their way down the street behind her. CRASH. The sound of something hitting the floor. "Oh my, " Sade gasped, "I'm sorry..I didn't even see-" Her voice tailing off as she realised who it was.
Jeff Thompson, a man she hadn't seen in over five years. Jeff Thompson, who she had thought about reaching out to every day since May 1974. Jeff Thompson, who didn't know that he was the father to Jasper Shacklebolt, a five-year old boy who currently stood in a sweetshop just a few steps away from where they stood.
