Since his argument with Rick, Finn had basically been avoiding Permanent Record and most of the spots he knew he’d run into him. In all honesty he wasn’t sure what to do about it. The conversation had left him with a weird feeling in his stomach but at the time he had been too drunk to process much. He was hurt, that much was evident. He hadn’t expected Rick to go off the way he did and it had thrown him to say the least. It wasn’t until the next day that he started to remember Rick’s words that were more like a confession than anything else. He got the sense that Rick didn’t blurt that out to a lot of people, that the night had just the right mix of bullshit to bring it out of him. He still hadn’t understood why his drunk mind had texted Rick of all people. He knew better then to invite him around to a scene like that but he supposed that mistakes happened.
Still, he usually was able to brush things off, to not really care if he upset anyone who wasn’t his family. But Rick had become the one honest to god friend he had in all of Seagrove and he didn’t really like the idea of not having him around. He also knew that he wasn’t exactly pleasant when he was drunk and Rick had tried his best to reason with him, he just hadn’t been listening. So he decided to do something he almost never did, put aside his pride and apologize.
After spending his morning off cooking, he packed a few tupperware full of food and left the house to head to permanent record, figuring he’d have to be at work if it was a weekday. It felt like neutral ground and he thought it’d be weird if he just showed up to his place. Finn stayed in his car for a few minutes as he pulled up, trying to figure out what he was going to say. It was an unusual situation for him and if his dad was here he would probably laugh and call him soft. But his mother would say he was doing the right thing. And that mattered more to him than anything.
“Fucking Florida, making me soft,” he mumbled to himself, grabbing the bag of food as he walked towards the store. He took a deep breath as he pushed it open and held up the bag as soon as Rick looked up. “Don’t worry, I’m not here to put my hands on anyone.” He walked over to him as he set down the bag n the empty chair in front of him and took a step back, sliding his hands into his pockets. “It’s Swedish meatballs and egg noodles. I found the recipe online, I don’t know if you actually like it or eat it but I figured it’s something. I mean it’s good food, I know cause I made it. But I don’t know, thought the Swedish meatballs would like help you not miss home or whatever.” He cleared her throat and ran a hand over his beard. “I just uh, you know, I want to uh,” he looked around for a moment before glancing at Rick. Why was this so hard for him? “I wanted to apologize about the other night,” he finally managed to get out. “It was fucked up. I’m not happy about it and I just...I’m sorry.”
