Gwen completely shut down and shoved her feelings to the side. She wanted to be there for her friends, so she knew she needed to shove her feelings to the side. She couldn’t be there for them if she didn’t. She was on the rooftop of her apartment building when she heard someone walk up to her and sat down next to her. She glanced over to see Clint, staring ahead and sitting there so she looked back ahead. She opened up her mouth, but then she heard him say, “You don’t have to talk, we can just sit together.” She closed her mouth and swallowed thickly.

She didn’t know what to say if she did, so she enjoyed the silence. She chewed on her bottom lip, lightly tapped a bit and let out a breath.

as the days went by wanda could feel the effects of the drugs slowly leave her body. still having to pretend she was in a drugged out state, she spent most of her the day slumped over in her bed. which gave her plenty of time to think. she wanted to try something and she prayed to god it would work. sitting up, she rested her back against the wall and closed her eyes. she just needed to connect back to her power. connect back to that part that could pull into people’s mind. follow the tiny thread that connected them all. she pulled on that thread, having no idea who it could be. wanda had infiltrated so many people’s minds it was a complete guess who’s thread this was. she just hoped it was good. “please answer.” she sent down the connection. “please someone.”

The dark eyed girl stood in front of Clint’s door for sometime. Tears falling down her cheeks, red from the crying she did. Chest heaved with heavy breath unable to calm shaking. Too many people were gone in too short of time and she wasn’t sure how to handle it. The fear of regressing of becoming who she used to be before the school changed crept into her brain, an unwanted parasite latching itself to her. Finally she found the will to knock on Clint’s door(afraid he too would have left) and in a small voice she called out. “Clint, please be there.”

Like any fight, the battle hadn’t come quietly. It approached the group deathly fast and bellowed the typically cries of war, the cries that were meant to unsettle the restless and nervous. Except they had been ready, and the Dark Elves weren’t the first otherworldly presences they had fought before. It was after the feat that Thor and his family -- plus friends -- had held that the man named Heimdall had warned them of what he foresaw the following morning. That would be when Malekith would make his move against Asgard. Now. The redheaded assassin was gearing up, strapping guns, knives and other special weapons designed by S.H.I.E.L.D -- and Stark -- to herself. Her eyes flicked over to the man that she had been on many missions before, one of few people she could always count on to be by her side during fights like these. “So. On the scale of 1 to Budapest, what do you rate this?”

He turned to look at her, his smile a little wan but its meaning genuine. He never lied to Bobbi -- and he was a masterful liar to almost everybody else, to the point that some people genuinely couldn't tell when he was messing with them. But she knew all his tells, so there was no point in being anything but honest. Brutally so, even.

"They want us together on this one. In and out, clean. Can't send the Russians because they're too recognizable." From his back pocket he produced a folder, which he had nonchalantly folded in half to fit, and held it out to her.

"You in?"

29. Trying to scare them

Wanda jumped in front of Clint, shouting BOO! There was a huge grin on her face and she laughed. “Did I get cha! Did I scare ya I bet I did!”

Wanda always did like his hands; despite the fact they were rough, callused in odd places due to snapping bowstrings and throwing punches. It seemed like she always sought them out, reaching to hold one, running her own delicately manicured fingers over the rough spots, tracing his scars, playing with the creases in his palm. He'd joked about her reading his fortune, and she'd deadpanned and told him he didn't want to know what they told her. He was much, much better off not knowing.

And then she'd kissed his palm, and his hand slipped over her cheek to cup it, her face turned up...

God, she was gorgeous. And worse, she understood him. The runaway, the circus act. The boy who'd just wanted someone to care enough to make him stay in one place.

He didn't stop her at first when her hand moved down his chest, plucked at his belt -- hers were so soft, so nimble...

His belt clinking hauled his brain back into focus. "Wait --" Looking around hurriedly, Clint grinned. Took her hand, hastily led her away from prying eyes to the elevator. "My room or yours?"
