Polly places the teapot in the center of the table, and sinks into their seat, offering Dorothy a polite sort of smile. The writer was a new acquaintance, but Polly likes them, even if they haven’t been expecting their visit today. “You’re lucky I’m home,” they speak as though they are joking, but in truth, it had been fortunate. Polly feels like they had hardly been here lately, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. “I’ve been spending loads of time up West lately. I’ve got friends there.”
They pour tea for the two of them, still chattering away. “If this is about the book you loaned to me, I promise I’ll finish it soon. I know it’s been ages, but it’s harder than anything I’ve read before. I really like it though! And I promise I will finish it soon. I wasn’t going to steal it or anything.” The book certainly was more challenging than the things Zoya had them practising with, but that was no bad thing. If anything, it had been very useful.
“Unless you came for another reason. Or no reason at all, you don’t need one. You can just drop by. That’s fine with me.”
