Week 7-9 Catchup Post
Through the period of two weeks, a lot changed for our project.Originally, we were doing Apollo Mission 11 Path to commemorate its 50th anniversary. However, the Curiocity projects will not be on display until next year, 2020. In that case, it will be the 51st anniversary of launch in 1969, and the content is too little. After receiving feedback on Tuesday in Week 8, we made a decision to develop our project from the Moon and the Earth to the whole Solar System (Eight Planets). The project will now pay attention to Solar System (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune). After discussing as a group, we decided to call our new project Our Planetary Community, as well as utilising lights to display atmospheres on the planet and broadcasting sound like wind by speakers to strengthen feelings. In consideration of size and experience, it would be challenging to make prototypes of all eight planets. Therefore, we resolved on selecting between Mars or Saturn to do prototype in Week 9 workshop, which will be more specific. The former one is the most connected with human beings except the Moon, while the latter one has a beautiful and unique ring. Meanwhile, we determined the approximate size of our prototype last week. According to our height, it will be a 2.5m-tall prototype with a 1.5m gap to let the audience come into the dome to experience more about this planet. After the presentation in Week 9, we got lots of feedback about thinking more about the “educational aspect” and the whole experience for the audience. Our group is still pondering over how to emphasise and strengthen the two parts.
