“You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the movie of the Addams Family. Not properly anyway.” Alexandra holds Nadir’s hand as they walk down the street. “Maybe I should check it out some time.” She looks up at him. “How’s it going?” she asks, her voice a little lower. @shincbrightcr

“Hey!” Alexandra protested, laughing as she did. “You know, you could get your own icecream!” It was rare that she felt so comfortable as to tell someone off like that, but she could joke with Nadir. And besides, she didn’t really mind. To prove as much, she holds it out to him, offering some more. “Want some more?”

Alexandra hated seeing Nadir like this. She wished she could take away the pain of the bad days. It wasn’t fair that he suffered like this, for so long. But she didn’t say that. He knew it wasn’t fair, and her saying that she didn’t like seeing him in pain wouldn’t help him not feel it. She couldn’t steal the pain away, or make the bad days stop, but she could be there for him. Be there with him on the bad days, and stay with him until it got better.

She sat with him, close but not quite touching yet, reaching out slowly. Just her hand on his at first. “I know,” she said softly. I’m here, her body language added.

“Nadir!” Alexandra’s face lit up when she saw him in the library. She always felt comfortable around him, and with classes finished the library was peaceful, almost empty. Finishing up the couple books she was reshelving, she headed over to him. “Hey.”
