Ro was a little surprised when Angel’s actual class ring was placed into their hand, along with the small box containing the earrings. They’d thought that the other was joking around, but clearly they weren’t, and that was incredibly sweet. There was an overwhelming urge to cry when Angel spoke, telling them why they’d given them the gifts, and also relief over the fact they didn’t get down on one knee. Taking the ring, Ro slipped it onto their wedding finger with a small smile. It was scary seeing it there, but not the kind of scary that made them want to take it off, and run for the door. “Thank you,” they said softly, then opened the box with the earrings.
“I love them. Thank you for going to so much trouble to get them, I’ll treasure them. I’m sure they’ll be blue whenever I’m around you.” Putting the lid back on the box, Ro carefully placed it in their purse. “Look… I’m not really great at grand gestures, or knowing how to react to them. But what you’ve just said and done is so sweet, and I really do appreciate it. You’re amazing, really, you are.” Not feeling like their words were enough, Ro looked down at their right hand, then pulled off one of the costume jewellery rings they were wearing. “You gave me your class ring, so it’s only right I give you a ring, too,” they said with a small, unsure smile. “It’s not worth much, but it’s something until the big day.” They pushed the ring into the palm of Angel’s hand before leaning in a little. “You know, it’s customary for couples to kiss at moments like this,” they grinned, then pressed their lips against Angel’s.
Angel watched as Ro slipped the ring on, their teeth nibbling the bottom of their lip nervously. Maybe it was too much of a grand gesture? It’s not like Angel knew how those worked. Then again, they’d never really liked anyone as much as they liked Ro unless you count Leonardo DiCaprio but even Ro took his place. This was frightening for sure. Romance wasn’t their thing and neither were relationships but seeing Ro smile like that and that expression alone was enough to convince Angel they’d want to do it again and again.
“You’re welcome.” They beamed, smile widening more and more as Ro spoke. Their gaze fell on Ro’s hands and they chuckled as the ring was handed to them. Angel quickly slipped it in on as if Ro could or would change their mind at any point. It was incredibly sweet, incredibly cute and Angel melted as they eyed the new ring on their finger. “Oh yeah?” Their gaze flickered up to meet their fiance’s. Fiance. so weird. Kinda cool. And then Ro kissed them and it was as if everything stopped. They’d kiss Ro before of course but this was different...”oh.” Angel smiled against Ro’s lips and moved their hands to cup the other’s face. “Like this, right?” and pressed their lips against their match’s once more.
