@sinistermagiics + seeker brian !
things go wrong oh so quickly.
entering the room, using a vial of mere’s blood to break the family seal, the air is far less triumphant than angus had anticipated. he shoots an eager glance to his partner- a man who’s become angus’ closest friend at the bureau- looking to share in their moment of success. but there’s no response, and certainly none as eager as he’s expecting. brian had entered the room first, had laid eyes on the relic before angus had gotten the chance, and something about that encounter has brought about a change in his friend. normal chattiness ceases instantly and his attempts at getting the man’s attention go unanswered. gaze faraway, but somehow sill focused in on the relic as he takes a few unsteady steps closer. quiet, scarily quiet, as he approaches, and as his steps eventually quicken.
it’s when brian’s hand reaches out for the gauntlet that angus realizes his friend is not acting on his own volition. it’s the thrall he’s been warned about. and, knowing shouting will do no good, angus jumps into action before he has time to think his plan through completely. intercepting his friend on his way to pick up the relic, scooping it up off the skeleton at the caverns centre and- and he can’t quite remember how, fuzziness creeping in the moment he has it in his hands- slipping the gauntlet onto his right hand, to hold it protectively across his chest.
there’s a good boy, angus. now, hold on tight. a voice in his head, sweet like syrup and kind like he remembers his mother, tells him. and he listens.
