Emilia lost Adrian and Delia, but gained a sister. She lost her entire life but gained something that would ignite it once more. The Delacroix sisters, along with the younger of the Hardwick's stayed in Miami, trying to rebuild the sanctuary taken from them. It was quite hard, considering Ariella was losing whatever grasp she had on her humanity and Isla wasn't the most experienced with family bonding time. It was hard. Emilia was a wanted woman, and losing Adrian only made her more volatile. At any chance she could get, she would scream; she would cry until her throat was raw, only for it to heal simultaneously and the process would repeat once more. Hunters thrived and she showed them what a true siren could do.
It was a bloody mess, but they slowly regained what they lost. After an incident with a group of malicious hunters, Ariella was on death row, only to rise from the ashes as a true alpha. Being shot by multiple rounds of wolfsbane laced bullets has quite the effect. Emilia harnessed the full effect of her scream, only on bad days would it trigger the memories of her mother. Isla had finally grown used to the idea of blood supplements. And, they had some form of safety net. Anneliese. The blood thirsty demon with a vendetta for hunters. Despite her constant struggle with her soul and how to maintain it, she served as a useful ally. Up until her last breath, Anneliese was able to maintain a malicious smirk. She died happily, surrounded by the bodies of hunters and bloody remains. After searching through the little belongings she had left, Ariella discovered multiple letters addressed to a certain fae-- along with a small collection of pictures, she's kept a hold of them ever since. It was an eventful year, obviously.
2015 was surprisingly... joyful. Ariella had her own pack. It was small, borderline dysfunctional, but it was hers. Everett and Riley were useful components to her sanctuary. Riley was antagonizing just as Everett was loving--they were childhood friends, and they would do anything for each other. The pair had helped not only Ariella with her new-found power, but they assisted Emilia with readjusting to her new surroundings. One beta definitely had quite the impact on the siren, Everett had always found Emilia interesting, saving her life only increased the attraction. At first, it wasn't returned, but the growing need for her protection caused them to spend more time together, which may have been the result of a drunken bet between Riley and Ariella. But, that's another story-- Everett and Emilia were close, not lovers, but not entirely friends. They were content. They were happy. He was the first boy, other than Adrian, to make her feel safe.
But nothing ever lasted long. Something triggered Ariella to lash out, destroying any and all control she had over her feral instincts. She ran, causing Riley to follow her and Everett to be stuck between the girl he held so close and another who he devoted his life to. He was a fool, and as fools do, he followed his gut instinct. Leaving Emilia was the worst decision he could have made. Not only had she been abandoned by majority of the people she held dear, the hunters were at an all time high. She had flirted with death on a number of occasions. Isla was seething with rage as she slaughtered any and all that opposed her younger sister. The year ended with blood stained hands and screams of fury. Nothing out of the norm, really.
2016 seems hopeful, but the lingering pain of losing Ariella and her pack still weigh heavily upon Emilia, so them returning, a little worse for wear, is a breath of fresh air for the siren. Not only does the younger of the Hardwick's return to her, the older finds his way back to Miami-- and she couldn't be more upset. She had grown, loved and loss, only for all of her progress to diminish within a few seconds of seeing his face.
2016 was going to be hell.
