since his arrival in town, he's been certain that he's slowly descending into madness, he was sure of it. how else could he explain the monsters in the woods, the not being able to leave town and the main thing, how everyone was acting like this was a complete normal thing to be happening when it obviously wasn't.
there was an onslaught of information thrown his way when he first arrived in town and he'd spent the last month working a new job and setting up a new home; both of which he didn't want, but for the foreseeable was now stuck with. despite all that, he was internally freaking out. people acted like what they're dealing with was normal and for a man who worked on logic and reason, he couldn't find an answer to pair the two up.
