The more time passed, the more Max hated having to go on missions. He was starting to realize this wasn’t him, but there was no way out of it. So he’d go, and he’d come back hating himself a little more for what he’d just done. It wasn’t much different when he showed up by the lake, a few cuts and bruises here and there; he just wanted to see her, and change his mind from what he’d just done. “Niobe.” He let out when he spotted her, taking steps in her directions. He didn’t say more than that as he approached; he just wanted to hold her, and he didn’t need to say it for her to know that.
