What the hell was she doing here?
On a school night, too, for cheese’s sake. Avery cleared her throat and fixed her dress—which was a little shorter than what she was used to—and tried to push away the thoughts of what she could be doing, and focus on what she was doing now. No studying for finals, no prepping for her final year as a volleyball player, just being on this date, trying to finally date for once in her college career.
Better late than never, right?
Her eyes shifted throughout the restaurant. It was one of the nicer restaurants in town, though nothing too fancy that she would feel out of place. Just enough to feel special on a first date, which she appreciated, and she was told it was her date’s pick. She was impressed so far.
Then, someone sat down in front of her—that someone being her roommate, Eloise. “Oh.” Avery furrowed her brows in confusion, then bubbled in slight laughter. “El, what’s up? How’d you know I was here?” she asked, the realization yet to hit her.
