what's your biggest desire?

Independence. Jongsuk longs for complete autonomy, the right to have the ultimate authority over his life. Though Hydrus has given him a sense of freedom that he never had growing up, at the end of the day he still ranks too low on the food chain for him to have any true sense of independence. He still reports to someone who then reports to the second in command, who then reports to the boss. 

The only place that he truly feels in control is The Elysian. The hotel gives him a sense of security and authority. In particular, the nightclub Luxe located within the hotel is his favorite place to be. When he first purchased the hotel in Yeongi, there was a stuffy old spa located in the place Luxe now occupies. It was miserably outdated and in need of repairs, and rather than sink money into reviving the old spa, he decided the space was better served in other ways. He built Luxe from the ground up and now it’s one of the islands most popular nightclubs. It’s a feat that Jongsuk takes great pride in. 

So maybe The Elysian isn’t much of an empire just yet, but Jongsuk hopes that it’s a stepping stone to something greater.

what's the most valuable thing to you?

Freedom.

After the childhood that Jongsuk had, freedom is the most valuable thing to him because it was denied to him for so long. Now, he lives by his own rules, creates his own fate. That desire for independence is what eventually led him to use his savings and purchase an old hotel in the heart of Yeongi and invest in what would one day become The Elysian. The Elysian represents something that Jongsuk had been long denied-- a home, but it also is a physical manifestation of everything that Jongsuk has built for himself since the day he struck out on his own.

Though The Elysian is known to be crawling with Hydrus, the establishment itself is technically neutral. The hotel prides itself on discretion, and so should one of the other gangs wish for a space to discuss business without turning too many heads, the VIP rooms at Luxe are open to all. It’s because of this neutrality that Jongsuk has struck business connections extending beyond those who share allegiance with Hydrus. Those connections make him a force to be reckoned with both within the business community and among the other gangs. After all, it isn’t about what you know, but who.

Jongsuk’s allegiance may lie with Hydrus, but should the day ever come that they betray him, The Elysian and the business empire he’s building will give him the means he needs to turn the tides in his favor.

can you see yourself falling in love? settling down?

Jongsuk snorts, adjusting his suit jacket before settling his hands on his hips. His gaze sweeps the floor of Luxe, taking in the writhing mass of bodies on the dance floor, the pulsing club lights and the packed bar beyond it all. His smile is easy, charming but a touch distant. It doesn't meet his eyes.

"What use would I have for any of that?" he chuckles, gaze returning to the boy before him. "Love is… fickle. Troublesome. Look at them," he nods towards the packed dance floor, eyeing patrons grinding away to the too-loud bass pumping from the speakers. "Each night someone leaves this place convinced they've found their soulmate. Then, when morning comes and the alcohol’s worn off, they realize they just spent their night with a total stranger and that the only thing they ever had in common was a bottle of jack.”

He shakes his head with a chuckle before settling against the bartop behind him, hooking an elbow over the polished wood and waving the bartender over to pour them a pair of shots. When the man is finished, Jongsuk shoots him a playful wink before turning his attention back to his companion and sliding one of the shot glasses closer to the boy.

“Besides-- I’m not exactly the wife and kids type.”
