“wait...what the hell is all this? boy....” he had been parked outside of the club waiting for her to walk out for what was the last time ever. her duffle bag on her shoulders, hair in a messy bun and her body in a pair of oversized sweats that more than concealed the small three-month baby bump now making itself known. they had made a deal; she would dance until she started to show and after that she was done for good. the strong-willed nature that had gotten her this far hadn’t been willing to let go of her independence any sooner than she had to and while they had been living together damn near since the test came back positive. phoenix had needed to keep working not just for her own selfish reasons but to prove to youssef that she wasn’t sticking around him for a check.
even pregnant it wasn’t hard for her to rack in close to three stacks and her last night had proven no different. the money was addictive and hard to say goodbye to but she had made a promise to youssef and staring at him now; with a car full of balloons and flowers she knew she had made the right choice. “did you buy out the flower shop? what are you doing?” laughing as she climbed into the passenger seat she quickly took hold of his face, pulling him in for a kiss. “this is sweet boo but...did you get my wings i asked for?”
