things had been a complete disaster this following week. rus would work and when he would return home lindsay and him had just avoided one another. he would pay her, they would keep their conversation with nothing but updates of jada and then she would leave or vise versa. it was strange. the man had never had a problem with the blonde before. he was close to her and it felt so strange what the two of them were doing here. rus knew that he needed to apologize for everything. he had acted like a real prick and he couldn't imagine how all this shit with vanessa had made her feel.

tonight when he had gotten home he made his way to the living room and pulled out her money for the week. "hey-" he paused before handing it over to her. "do you mind taking a seat and us maybe talking? do you have time?" he asked.

russel rushed through the door, damn he was so late. when he left the bar it was already 11:15. as he opened the door and hung his keys up he looked around for her. it now being midnight he felt like such a dick getting in so late for working. when he turned the corner and seen her on the couch he sighed. “i am so sorry. i am such an asshole i should have called but my staff called out and i ended up having to work a double behind the bar.” he groaned as he pulled his wallet out of his slacks. “here let me pay you for your extra time.”

russel sat on the couch as he watched their child sleep. she had passed out in front of the christmas tree that had just put up and decorated tonight. russ had never really been one to care much for christmas but ever since their daughter had turned 4 she had been so excited for everything christmas. “let me get her to bed..” he excused himself as he moved over and picked up the little girl. he gently carried her to her room and put her to bed, tucked her in, kissed her forehead and exited the room. he shut the door behind him and made his way back to the living room where they were. “thanks for coming..” he smiled at his ex. “it meant a lot to her tonight to do this together.” rus hated the two couldnt work things out for his daughters sake. “do you want something to drink? i make a mean hot apple cider with vodka.”

russ was trying his best to figure out what the blonde needed to talk to him so urgently about. he felt things had been going decently well. he had kept their relationship mostly quiet. of course he had pretended it was or her benefit. he had gone through a list of lies as to why he didnt bring her around his friends or tell people that they were together.  maybe it was because he didnt want his friends giving him shit for dating such a innocent girl? or maybe it was because he didnt want to give up the girl hanging over him at the parties? whatever the reason was he though he had it under control, maybe he didnt? either way he had gotten in his car and headed to her place. when he arrived he did what he always did, let himself in. “babe...” he called out as he walked in the front door. “babe?” he shouted again. his mind still going through a list of what in the hell she could have wanted to see him for. did she hear about the redhead who was all over him at the party last weekend? did she want to talk to him about going public? as he turned the corner he did his best to give a charming smile. “where are you?” he chuckled.

it was really getting frustrating the whole ‘relationship’ or lack there was between the two of them.  russel knew better than to fuck around with her, he knew it would just end badly. the more he tried to keep it causal the more he ended up falling for the beautiful girl. it was hard not to. anyone who met her loved her. that was the problem. there was another man who loved her. the girl having a boyfriend didnt really ever bother rus, until now. he wasnt sure why tonight more than anything it was getting under his skin. 

he slumped back against the headboard as he covered up his naked body. it was probably the worst time to try to talk about shit. the two of them had just hooked up and rus felt his heart on his nonexistent sleeve. his eyes glances at her. her bare exposed back made him reach out and trail his fingers lightly up her spine. “you cant avoid the question forever.. sex only distracts me for too long.” he reassured her.

russel let out a laugh as allegra was standing in front of his full body mirror in the bathroom. the lights were shut off and the only thing burning was a scented candle that smelled like a pumpkin patch. russel couldnt help but let out a laugh  with a snort to follow. “you cant really be scared of this shit.” he said shaking his head as he playfully grabbed her sides to scare her. “this shit isnt even real.. i just seen a bunch of kids do it on tiktok and thought it could be fun.” he explained. “but if you are going to be a big baby about it then i suppose i can do it..” he suggested. 

it was probably a terrible idea to dare her to do it. he knew all night every time one of them hear something she would be concerned if it was something coming to get them. “dead people are dead, no one is going to jump out of the mirror and suck us in or kill us..” he chuckled. “how many people have you heard actually dying from this challenge?” he questioned. “do it, you big chicken.”

​this was always russel favorite time of the year. he had spent many years going to camp here himself. however once he had gotten older he had began to help out.. there was just something about the joy seen on the kids faces when they got to experience all the camp had to offer. but that wasnt the only reason he came back year after year. the main reason of course was HER. it was the only time he saw her, hell the only time the two of them even spoke, so coming back here was always something that russel had counted the days and minutes down. 

part of not communicating with her outside of camp was not really knowing if she was going to come or not. rus would always call and see who was on the list this year to help out. as he settled in his cabin he had went out to meet his new troops. this year he knew his hands full. as he began to greet all the kids he paused when his eyes caught her. he wasnt sure jut how it was possible for her to be even more stunning this year than the last. as he quickly shook the last boy’s hand he made his way through the crowd and quickly twirled her around in a hug. a soft laugh left his lips as he sat her down. “sorry..sorry..” he said placing her on her feet. “it’s just so good to see you again.” he admitted. rus had always had such a soft spot for her as she was the first girl he had really had nearly all of his FIRST with. from first crush to first kiss. she was something special even if it was only a summer time thing.
