these are the lives you love to lead
Ray shoved the suit on quickly and it was a mess. Crooked spandex sticking tight to his skin was generally uncomfortable but uncontrolled anger led him to shoving the rubber gloves onto his hands anyway. The cape is clipped on and he shoves the glasses onto his nose and he's done. The boots are here he fixed the suit, everything is good.
Is X-Ray here?
No.
Steady and quick footsteps lead him down the flights of stairs and at the end he's not breathless. He leaves the apartment building with his phone in his hands and he clamps on a finger of the glove with his teeth. Pulling it off, he uses the free hand to send a text message.
[txt; Gavin] I'm going out today. As in right now. Don't come with me
Ray shoves the glove back on and his phone deep into the pocket of his speedo. He runs a hand through his hair, takes a completely different route that normally. Yes, that route is easily found when he's at Gavin's shed but Ray could find it from his apartment. But he has a goal this night. In a few minutes he crosses his arms over his chest and smiles.
AUSTIN GENERAL HOSPITAL.
The place is ridden with cameras inside and out. They probably see Ray as he circles the hospital building and waits outside. He hides behind a wall, looks up a few feet and smiles at the security camera right there. Day shifts at hospitals usually end at this time, the doctor should come out at any moment. One doctor comes out. No, no, it's a female doctor. Not who he's looking for.
Leaning with one shoulder against brick, Ray rubs his face. More waiting and waiting and waiting. All of these doctors that Ray does not care about, he just needs one Stanley Blythe.
And soon the waiting proves useful.
While he says goodbye to another doctor, Ray begins to round the corner. The doctor catches one eyeful of neon green spandex and begins walking faster towards his car. Ray slips in front of the driver's seat entrance and smiles. "Doctor Blythe!"
He nervously smiles back and pushes up his glasses. "Hah, X-Ray... It's nice to see you..."
"Oh, no, X-Ray's not here. Don't you worry. I'm Ray. Purely Ray. Come, walk with me."
He slowly begins to follow X-Ray Ray. Stanley is very hesitant, he doesn't know what is in store for him. But slowly his feet follow behind Ray's rubber-covered ones and they don't walk too far. A few feet at most, but then Ray's hand curls in what's left of salt and pepper hair decorating the doctor's head.
"What are you-"
Slam. right onto the hood of someone's car. Blood splatters a beautiful red convertible in the parking lot of Austin General Hospital. It almost blends in, but then Ray slams his head back onto the hood and there's a sickening crack of bones snapping in his face. Thin-framed glasses crack and snap in two and Ray almost laughs at Stanley's flailing.
With a blood-filled mouth and two missing teeth, he still somehow finds a way to flail his arms and yell. It's a big mess of just jumbled words and "Stop!" but Ray keeps smashing his face in. Blood splatters onto his glove and X-Ray finally seeps into the Puerto Rican shell.
Stanley stops kicking, stops pushing, stops moving and X-Ray stops as well. A clenched jaw leads to him throwing out his hands, blood flying off of the black rubber gloves. Sparking red eyes look up to a security camera and he smiles right back up to it. Two middle fingers raise proudly right up, and he jogs home.
