Um... Sirius, Remus and James are Sherlock and Peter is John Watson and writes down their adventures AU. SEE IT AS A WRITING CHALLENGE. THERE.
(I haven’t seen or read anything Sherlock-related in 2 to 3 years, so forgive me if this is almost completely irrelevant-and weird. Writing challenge, indeed.)
The residents of 221C, Baker Street had only lived in their new apartment for a week, and they had already noticed that their neighbors, the residents of 221B, were mysterious folk. Indeed, they had visitors quite often, visitors that were of the creme de la creme when it came to status.Sirius Black would know, since he recognized many of them. “That one,” he would point out on occasion, “attended loads of those stuffy upper class balls. I see he never got around to getting rid of his beard.” To which the other three (James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew) would peer out of the window to take a look. James would guffaw, Peter would join in (albeit a second too late), and Remus would chuckle while wondering how on God’s green earth it had grown like that. These four men-boys, really-had,, upon graduating from Hogwarts (a school for boys and girls of the upper class) with honors (though Peter had only received the bare minimum), set out to do something amazing. James’s parents had encouraged him (and Sirius, their adoptive son) to work in the government, and Remus, with his cool logic, could have gotten a job anywhere he liked (though his illness was an obstacle, indeed.) Peter proved to be willing to accompany them anywhere, and would be a valuable friend. So these four boys decided to start up a detective business, much like (in their eyes) the Scotland Yard. Why they had thought it was a good idea, no one knew. Remus certainly didn’t understand it, but the other three thought it was amazing. But moving on. They’d placed an advertisement in the newspaper, calling themselves “eyes for hire”, claiming that they could solve any case. It had been weeks since they’d placed it and moved to the heart of the city (the aforementioned little apartment on Baker Street, to be precise). And nothing had happened (they were unaware, though, that they lived right next door to the acclaimed detectives Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, which proved to be a detriment). These four Marauders (not having any name for themselves, they had titled their organization The Marauders: Eyes for Hire and Private Detectives) were quite bored. Sirius, lounging on the couch, refused to shut up about it, James considered phoning his fiance Lily, Remus paged through an old schoolbook, and Peter-well, Peter kept staring out of the window.“Oi,” he called out. The other three looked up. “There’s somebody standing outside of Holmes’s door.” Immediately, James and Sirius shot up and ran over. The figure was clearly a woman, though she was facing away from them. “Allow me,” said Sirius, attempting to be suave. “I’ll see to her, and maybe get us some business. What do you say, lads?” Remus, who had seen enough of Sirius’s attempts at flirting, decided to just watch and laugh. James just smirked. With that, Sirius threw on his coat and walked out the door, making sure to use that signature sort of confidence that usually got him what he desired. He reached the threshold, where the woman was standing before the door, and lightly cleared his throat in a manner that was decidedly not intended to relieve his throat. The woman turned around slowly.“Excuse me,” he said smoothly, “But what are you waiting out here for? It’s awfully cold outside, miss.” The woman looked him up and down, with a nonchalant look in her eyes. “The name’s Sirius Black,” he supplied. “Whoever lives here, they must be quite rude to not let you in, don’t you think? What is it that you need?” The woman didn’t seem to care for his charm, but she still said calmly, “Irene Adler. And the residents here know that I’ve come to call. It’s none of your business, really.”Sirius blinked. “Well,” he said finally. “I’ll leave you here to-wait.” And with that, he pulled his coat a bit tighter, and left hastily. He was welcomed to his apartment by raucous laughter. “Mate,” said Peter between giggles, “That was an utter failure.” Sirius grumbled under his breath. Remus finally turned around from his spot before the window and said briskly, “Well, while you were out trying to woo her,” Sirius yelped indignantly, “We received a call. It’s a missing person case, and we’ve been hired to solve it.” He turned to James. “It was from Lily. A friend of hers, Marlene, has gone missing.”James grinned, and exclaimed, “Mates, we’ve got our first case!”And finally (finally!) Peter cracked open that notebook he’d gotten a few weeks ago to write down information. It was time to put it to use.
