Seeking Wisdom
Welcome to the Connecting to Community (C2C) iPad class of 2014! Many thanks to AARP Foundation, OATS (Older Adults Technology Services), Senior Planet, Family Matters and Comcast for sponsoring this amazing program. We, iPad class 2013, learned to use a number of social networks, among them Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr. I followed President Obama on Facebook and sent him a post and got a post back! I learned to tweet on Twitter and found one of my nieces who was living in Germany! As you can see I am blogging on Tumblr. Tumblr is my most favorite social network. We learned how to search on Safari for our various interest and hobbies such as religion, art, cooking, music, butterflies, flowers, fish and you name it, you can search for it on Safari. We found all manner of applications in the App Store and learned to download and use them. The best part of the program was meeting and making new friends and the camaraderie that was formed among the group. I miss my classmates and the class sessions. We all at one time or another encountered challenges but we were able to overcome them with the help of our very patient and capable trainers and helpful classmates. You too will probably have some obstacles, but understand that our very patient and dedicated trainers will walk you through it. If you should have an after class problem and are unable to reach your trainers feel free to contact the 2013 class, hopefully we can put together and make available a contact list of volunteers. Again, welcome iPad class 2014 and get ready to make some new friends and enjoy this very fun journey into the tech world as you connect to community. You are going to be pleasantly surprised at how much and how quickly you will learn. Bon Voyage! Thanks again to AARP, OATS, Senior Planet, Family Matters and Comcast for caring and thanks for your generosity!
On Retirement
Why do people retire is it really to take a break from the work Or is the bosses or the others you think are jerks. Tired of sitting in traffic and driving miles to work. Maybe you honestly just wanted to be done. Did you retire because you don't need the money? Think again down the line you'll need all you can get. Because the leeches and beggars become your best friends. They create for you a new job you never knew you could do. Retirement ugh! You thought you were through. No! you just get a new career let me help you with a few. You become the bank and the banker, the loan shark too. The babysitter, the car pool, the escort, and the gofer for the big things and the little things that someone has to do. Who would have thought that gofer would be you. Especially when you thought you were through. The newest job I heard about and saved it for last is the pooper-scooper. What! getting the dog poop out of the grass. Stink for a pet you don't even own. Makes you wish you never decided to come home. These are jobs with no pay but there is some reward. They can keep you happy and healthy and they let you share some love. They can keep your blood pressure low or make it really high. So on your health you have to keep a keen eye. Out of your comfort zone. Don't pull down the shades and not answer the phone, Nor answer the knocks that will come to your door. Don't pull the cover over your head or hide behind the door. Be bold do none of the above. Have a good day get your R& R in and catch up on your love. Love of the things you retired to do not the new jobs you got reeled into. Take your cruise go on a trip get it all in before you mess around and get sick or bored or something like that. Because when it's my time I don't want to be the jack of all trades and master of none. I want to cruise and fly at altitudes and have a little fun. Just a little because I'm not that up tight that I won't give in a be a new recruit. But what I know for sure is I draw a line at the poop. On retirement I must say hang on in there but be sure to have it your way be the orchestrator of you day to day. Dedicated to those retired recruits

C2C WELCOME
I have just completed my C2C Pilot Program Assignments, and I’m on my way to more fun! Believe me, any difficulties entering into any application, will soon be history, as you too soar. The Program gives you an opportunity of a lifetime, in having new learners interact with each other and new trainers! This is a very fresh concept, even my 15 year old granddaughter is impressed (they are rarely impressed by anything). Now you take charge and remain in close contact with all participants, and teach someone else how to get into the Technology Traffic!
