Lets Recap!
1.COLD OPEN- Quick pause from the regularly scheduled Soldiers for a happy moment with Vaelus! Girl had a whole family full of love and joy as a kid! And that was her happiest moment? This girl is 700 years old and her happiest time was as a child. And then, of course, gotta love bonding between the 'we don't need sleep' members of the Seekers, AKA Vaelus and Occtis. Feel like that was an insight into an important relationship to come as Occtis learns what being undead is like.
2.TYRANNY FALLS FOR THE TRAVIS TRAP- Back to the Soldiers! Tyranny took a knife, knife glowed and awoke something, Tyranny saw the pain of the man she took it from... Whitney Moore took Travis's job early and found a cursed knife? What the fuck is up with that? And then there's Kattigan, who secretly kept the knife after blowing up at Tyranny about her stealing it? I WANT TO KNOW YOUR SECRETS!!!
3.AASIMAR SORCERER OFFICIAL (FUCK YOU DOUBTERS)- For those not aware, I keep running stats that I post before/after each epidose in the Beacon discord, and the AMOUNT OF BS PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN ME for sticking with my "Wick is a Sorcerer" stat despite it still saying cleric... Can't argue with me now bitches! Also, that Aasimar awakening from the guy who believed so purely in his family's religious beliefs despite learning they were fake? This man's crisis of faith is so strong
4.LAURA BAILEY VS HAGS: THE WAR CONTINUES- gods damn it all Laura Bailey. Thimble giving up a memory with Thjazi to a hag in exchange for information? Even Brennen said during Cooldown he didn't expect Laura to make it so sad! But, then again, thats BAFTA winner Laura Bailey we are talking about! Seriously, I think she's made me cry every episode.
5.EVIL SPIRITS CONNECTED TO TREES SAGA RETURNS- When Brennen was describing the undead-tree-portal-thing that was hosting the wraith and undead spirits, lots of people, including myself, were thinking about Saundor in chat (who arguably wasn't evil, just cursed, but man tried some evil shit against Vex). Felt kinda nice to kill some spirits connected to trees. Bonus fact: in c1, Grog kills Saundor, and in c4, Teor got the HDYWTDT on the Wraith. Travis does not like spirits connected to trees
I'm not gonna lie, I missed a ton of the lore in Hawthorn's Glade bc Prime Video decided to announce the M9 episode drop, and I straight-up couldn't focus on anything once that happened. So I gotta rewatch later. But as this is morning-after thoughts, I figured I should still write up my non-M9 thoughts about the Soldiers.
Speaking of, M9 E1 IS UP UNTIL SUNDAY PEOPLE!! GO WATCH IT!!! Sam was in Beacon chat watching our reactions last night, and the better the reviews/hype, the more likely Amazon will give us more!
Okay, done ranting about M9. Soldier's journey was great and I love that we are starting to see them interact more as a group. Everyone applaud Tyranny for learning about guilt! Proud of you!
