Ruby was questioning this whole thing, honestly. Had she thought Noah would be so... horrid about this whole thing, she might have considered facing her family alone... Might have. The problem was, at the start of her relationship with Noah, she’d fought so hard against her family, demanded they accept her downtown man into their uptown life because it was true love, and she and Noah would get married and be together forever. Needless to say, that had not been the case, but facing the scorn of her family and their ‘I told you so’ looks was just not something Ruby could do.

Maybe if you tried a little harder to make conversation with them, they would be nicer in return.” Turning from him, she started to remove the excessive amount of lush throw pillows from the ornate king sized bed. “And anyway, if I were you, I’d spend more time trying to work out what to make your bed on the floor out of and less time being a giant jerkface.”
