The Morning After Nothing || Cressida & Thema
Thema blinked as she woke up from her sleep. She had almost forgot that she and her long time best friend had shared a bed together upon the siren’s arrival. Smiling softly, her blurry eyes got adjusted to the light peaking through the windows, and Cressida’s face appeared clear as day in front of her. Thema resisted the urge to play with a stray strand of hair as she watched her best friend (was she even her best friend still?) snooze away. Immediately, she wanted to snuggle into her side and fall asleep, but hearing a rumble in the Siren’s belly made Thema have other ideas.
Carefully, Thema slipped out of bed and walked out of her room as quietly as she could. Since Cressida was much too tired to eat dinner, Thema decided that a big breakfast was in order for the both of them The night before,Thema didn’t want to leave Cressida while she slept, afraid that if she left the girl’s side that somehow she wouldn’t be here anymore. But now that her childish worrying was over, Thema could now focus on important things, like food.
Sighing, she wondered what she could make. Oatmeal was too quick and too bland, Grits was a definite no, and Thema sure wasn’t going to serve her something lame like fruit. “Gods. what am I going to do?” Then suddenly, it came to her. Pancakes (fish shaped of course), with berries, bacon, and all sorts of unhealthy sugary toppings. The inner-child inside of her squealed with delight as she got all her ingredients together and started to cook. Once she was satisfied with how everything turned out, Thema put the food on a plate and then placed it on a tray before heading back to her room.
Knocking softly on the wall with a free hand, Thema walked into the room. “Cressi? Wake up. I brought you breakfast in bed.”
