“Thank you for coming with me today.” Ella smiled, looking over at her for a moment. Even if she wanted to reach out and take her hand right now. “Want to do the Ferris Wheel? We can make out at the top for a little bit.”

Ella was annoyed especially when the power went out. She should be somewhere that wasn’t in her flat right now. Sighing a little bit, she grabbed a candle and lit it. Taking a moment before she left her flat, she traveled down the hall and decided to knock on the first door she came across. When it opened, that was when she realized that one of her neighbors was in fact Gina Parker. Not that she had an issue with Gina. Ella just didn’t really care enough to get to know her neighbors. “Hey. Do you got power or what? Mine just went out.”

Pepper was a little surprised to see how early it was when she rolled over in bed and blinked her eyes open. She couldn’t tell if Gina was awake, so she stayed quiet, pausing to absorb the moment, the sunlight that peeked through the white curtains, a faint glinting from the nearby ocean. She’d hidden the other little gifts in between her clothes and in her backpack, planned to let her find them over a room service breakfast. After a few minutes, she slid out of bed as quietly as possible to start her makeup routine, quickly taking a peek at the other side of the bed. “Happy birthday,” she whispered, figuring that even if she was asleep, she’d said the words at the earliest opportunity, and that seemed special, like the day was devoted to her before she was even conscious of it.
