The following letter was let on the floor in front of the door of JT's dorm.
Today's your special day an the last thing I'd ever want to do on a day like this is upset you, so I'm writing you this letter instead of congratulating you in person. It's funny because, I'm writing this and I'm getting the same feelings on missing you that I did when I first left town, and those feelings are a small part of the reason why I'm writing this letter. But at the same time, every time we're together and talking, the conversation's about us rather than you. So I've decided to rant on and on about all the little things I love about you, just as a person, and I hope you don't mind too much.
First of all, your confidence. It's grown so much since we first met and I couldn't be happier that you finally believe you can do all of the things you've ever wanted even if it's to the smallest extent. The fact that you go after what you want and let nothing stop you in the process is truly admirable, I wish I could do the same and I hope I will be able to at some point.
I'm not really too sure how to label this second part, whether it be your personality in general, or just your caringness specifically. I don't actually think that 'caringness' is a word, but we'll go with it for now. This goes along with confidence a bit, but you're always finding time or some small slot to let the people you care about know it. If there was an award for making loved ones feel special, you'd certainly win it. You go out of your way to make sure people are happy and well-cared for, and I hope all of the people I meet in the future care at least half as much as you do.
I thought I would have been better at writing this letter to you, but it's a lot more overwhelming than I thought, in a good way though, so my feelings and thoughts may not come across as clearly as I with they would have, but lastly I'd just like to touch on how talented and strong you are. You know you've been through a lot, not even after you came to this school, but you managed to deal with it and carry on. You're still here today, better than ever in some states of mind and I couldn't be happier that you're still here with a reason to smile most of the time. I know you haven't written or played much since I've been here so I can't speak too much on your talent, but what what i have heard and remember, I'm speechless every time you open your mouth. I may be a bit biased when it comes to complimenting you, but eh. I hope you continue to deserve your dream, because your talent deserves to be recognized by anyone you'd want.
I could go on about a few other things but if someone else happens to find this letter instead of you... yeah, so I'll finish this off in person, but on a semi-final note, there is one last thing I'd like to write, even though I know I said I'd try not to include 'us' in this letter.
And as I write this letter and realize how truly great you are,
It's not a momentary phase.
You are my life I don't deserve you, but you love me just the same.
And as the mirror says we're older, I will not look the other way. You are my life, my love my only, and that's the one thing that won't change.
XOXO,
Vanessa.
(Ps, I hope you enjoy your birthday, you deserve it.)
