operator (Cerberus, C) is nebulously trans — hes a guy, but doesnt feel strongly about it and hadnt really started puberty 1 when the zariman happened. as a special science experiment he got access to crazy orokin hrt. but he's fairly straightforward.
drifter (Sirius, Sirie) is also trans, but very strongly so.
other drifter (Nixie) is not trans.
when C took the deal, that created two major branches in the timeline: timeline a (with tenno) and timeline b (without). but when the drifter went into duviri, a third and weaker branch was created: timeline c (no duviri).
C, as operator, forms timeline a
Sirius comes from timeline b and sustains the hex loop
Nixie comes from timeline c and uh. is dead? maybe? mostly she's an echo of void angel
Sirius has the corporeal body most of the time, but Nixie can reach through the void and take over. they function like a plural system where only one can front at a time, but on a more extreme level (their body physically changes depending on who's in charge). when Sirius is present, Nixie is mostly absent, though she sometimes exists in the headspace. when Nixie is present, Sirius is absent — he's not as adept at non-corporeal existence. (neither of them knows where they go when not in front and they don't like thinking about it)
C finds Nixie to be cooler but also much scarier than Sirius. C sees much more of himself in Sirius, though.
Nixie has much less to lose than either C or Sirius and is bolder and braver, but is also acutely aware of the fact that her continued existence is inexplicable and very tenuous.
