Indominus || Rex and John S.
John, if he were to admit it to himself, was a wreck. A proper trainwreck, sans train, more Time Lord. The recent hallucination from the Pocket had shaken him to the core, and triggering a storm of nightmares that kept him up late into the night.
Once upon a time, when he’d still had a TARDIS, his solution to that would be to run, seeking distractions and immersing himself in the beauty of the universe to escape the clawing thoughts of his own mind. With that door shut, he had to seek his distractions in other ways now - and one of those avenues was work.
(He was starting to see why Jack drowned himself in paperwork.)
So it was that he turned up bright and early in Rex’s office one morning after yet another sleepless night, eyes red, tie even more askew than normal, the TARDIR in tow in the form of a briefcase, and leaned against the doorframe with as bright a grin as he could muster. “Clare! Just the man I was looking for. You’ve been avoiding me, don’t think I haven’t noticed that.”
