11/24/18 - Some of the CA’s that regularly visit the Salish Sea met up with some of the inner coast T’s the week of Thanksgiving. CA166′s pod, which includes the CA172′s and CA173′s, met up with the T35A’s, T38A’s, T49A’s, and T123′s to hunt for Steller sea lions near Race Rocks.

1/28/17 -  From the Center for Whale Research’s Facebook page:

We caught up with some cool California transients earlier this week! CA166, CA172, CA173 and 2 others that have yet to be identified. This group has been seen fairly regularly in this area in late fall and winter over the last decade. Check out the rest of the photos on out newly mobile optimized website!

The little one is likely CA172′s calf, the other individual’s ID is still pending.

11/9/2016 - Male CA166 with females CA173 (left), CA172 (right), and her youngest calf patrolling the Juan de Fuca Strait. This family is regularly seen around Washington and Vancouver Island in the fall and winter months.
