Wonder where Christopher ran off to...hmmm🤔

[OOC: text format means I can make this longer and more narrative hehe-] - Nervous Heart’s body goes tense and hissed between her teeth at the reminder of Christopher’s existence. Her hand touches the scabbed over puncture wounds.

Katya perks up at the mention, abruptly turning back towards the castle. “WE FORGOT CHRISTOPHER! WE HAVE TO GO BACK!”

Nervous makes a small hum, twisting at her satchel’s leather strap, finding much more interest in her shoes at the moment. Meanwhile, Cactus reassured Katya, “Not to worry, my lady, I’m an excellent vampire hu-” his words falter when both of the ladies’ gazes snapped to him, and he cleared his throat, quick to correct himself, “I- I mean… I’m an excellent vampire savior! And tracker! Not hunter. I don’t do that anymore…”

“…mhm.” Katya crossed her arms.

“Come on, kid, I’m still getting used to the change,” he says with a wince of discomfort. But he suddenly brightens again and says, “Besides, now that there’s a cure, he’ll be perfectly fine! Like her!”

He points over to the exhausted NH, bits of her clothes (mainly her coat) ripped and torn, hair tangled, various scratches, bruises, and small wounds covering her body, and eye bags so dark they looked more akin to bruises- they might as well have been from how hard it was to keep her eyes open and how much they stung.

She presses her palms to her eyes, “okay, so we drop Katya off at the village, then we search for Christopher since it should be about sunrise when we-”

“Wait, he’s my boyfriend! I can still help!” Katya says, a fire in her eyes as she grabs Nervous’s wrist.

”But Katya-”

“Neither of you are going to find him, I’m going alone,” Cactus cuts off abruptly.

“Wait, what?” Both ask.

Cactus lets out a long sigh, looking over to Katya first. “You have your mother to get back to.” He turns to look at NH, “And you are doing your job, bringing her home. I may have been a vampire hunter before, but I’ve survived this long. I’ll be fine…” he glanced over at Katya as he rubbed his bruised cheek and added, “so long as there’s no surprise attack from someone I thought needed protecting.”

Katya grins sheepishly, but Cactus simply pats her shoulder. “Think of it as my start for amends towards the harm I’ve caused.”

Nervous is wide eyed, her mouth twitching into a frown at not being able to help with this. She felt crappy and exhausted, yes, but she still had some energy left over to help out.

She snaps back to attention when Cactus grabs her hand and kisses it, making her mind go blank as her face flushed a deep red at the simple gesture. It made her lightheaded when he offers her a smile. “I hope to see you again under better circumstances, my lady.”

All she can manage was a dumb nod before he drops her hand and bids them both a farewell, readjusting his hat and walking back towards the castle.

However, she snapped out of her daze when Katya makes a worried sound and says, “I really hope he’s alright… I don’t even know how long he’s been a vampire for!”

Nervous reflects back to first meeting Christopher and his behavior. She had no idea if that was the curse already taking effect or… she thins her lips, “Katya, there’s something really important I need to tell you…”

“Yes, Miss Heart?”
