@caeciliam
Shige learned pretty early in life that if you weren’t in people’s way, they were never going to see you. It’s what made him work as a mercenary- shove his way into contract discussions for better rates, sit at the most obvious portions of taverns, wave around his gun.
Same went for bumming it in the mainland. The rest of these guys had it all wrong, shoved up in corners and the sides of the sidewalk. He certainly got shoo’d away more often by owners and authorities, but he did usually have enough coin by the end of a day to get dinner.
It came with some heavier drawbacks though. Like a stick to the face in the middle of a nap.
“Hey! Gonna poke my eye out with that thing- an’ I only got the one left!”

❝ can i help ya? ❞
the woman leaned forward a bit on the counter. her first actual customer, maybe? it was hard to tell, but she can be hopefully.
➤ There’s A Ranger On Patrol! || @caeciliam
“Listen, miss. I don’t give a Rattata’s ass if you live three feet or three miles from here. You are not walkin’ on that.”
The ranger had watched the fall from just a few yards behind. Seen the twist turn the woman’s ankle over like a folding chair. He almost felt it himself, even squinted as a form of empathetic wince. Independence and determination were great qualities and all, but outright stubbornness that could lead to furthering an injury?
It was stupid, in his mind. Why test fate’s cruel sense of humor, and risk having a long term injury when it was avoidable ??
Protests of letting her walk home on her own, or in the company of one of her Pokémon fell on deaf ears. He wasn’t having any of it. The ranger went to hoist the woman off Route 209′s dirt road like a runaway bride, careful not to add any more stress to sprains she might of not said anything about.
A Rapidash stood by, patiently waiting for a silent cue before clopping over. Her mane crackled gently. Golden, with soft red flames flashing lowly every now and then given her stand still. She even knelt for Cayden, as he went to set the stubborn woman on her back.
“It’s my job. So just let me do it, okay? Okay.”
@caeciliam ❤’d for a starter, what a sweetheart
“Listen,” Touya grew defensive, bristling up like a prickly pear. “It’s-- it’s not like I want to do this! Okay? There are, like, a lot of other things I could be doing. And-- you can’t pin this on me, I’m not even supposed to be here! So don’t get the wrong idea, because I am definitely not--MMPH.”
He stopped talking, a pair of hands covering his face.
@caeciliam sent: After washing her face and getting over that night, somehow Matilda has gotten downstairs without her cane nor injury, the scent and sounds of breakfast leads her there. She's taken some care into making sure he's not too busy over the stove before giving him a soft hug from behind, forehead pressed against his back.
Yawn ensues with a sigh of relief. Matilda can't help but pout a bit as she smiles.
"G'morning.... It's cold in the morning, maybe I should have stayed in bed."
Finding Raguna wouldn’t be difficult, smells had been wafting from the kitchen for several minutes and the continuing sizzle of the pan would clue anyone else in. The last night was something he wasn’t going to forget soon, and were it not for his own hungering stomach chances were he wouldn’t have left her side in the bed. Of course, he was making some food for her as well... and if she hadn’t woken it’s very likely it would have been served in bed.
But the telltale creak of the fifth step alerts him that she’s coming down, as the sounds of the water draining from the sink upstairs told him that she had woken up. He feels excited. Both to see her as well as talk to her again. They’d already said so much, and fallen asleep while doing so.
“Good morning, Matilda. I hope I didn’t wake you too early. Breaking habits is difficult, even if I’m not working like I promised I’m always up pretty early.” His voice is soft, trailed with a chuckle and locked with a smile when her arms grip around his middle. There’s the scraping of a spatula and something being dropped onto a plate. “If you’re cold, I think I may have just the thing. Here, open your mouth. Let me know how this tastes.”
There’s the cut and tap of a fork, and should Matilda move enough to accept the offering (this does require she release him...) she’d receive a lovely bite of fresh blueberry pancake.
@caeciliam || continued from here
Poffins were the most popular treat in Sinnoh, so it’s no surprise that many people made them in their homes. Matilda wasn’t an exception as she had the tendency to make an excessive amount on a regular basis, most luckily being given to other trainers or wild pokemon, but making them with the friends was a treat sweeter than the confectionery.
The sweet smell emanating from the ovens and mixing bowls to the sounds of clinking glass and metal, Matilda found that many people took for granted what they could only see. Some may not even feel the soft leaves that fell onto them the way she did, like an indent, so much more sensitive to something considered as nothing at all.
“ Again? Why am I not surprised? ” A soft giggle escapes her lips as she picks one off.
“ Thank you, Wylan. I think this batch will definitely amp up your team for the next contest. Not like they do much, you’re already quite special, Gigi! ”
Wylan considers himself a decent chef when it comes to poffins. Berry selection and balancing of additional ingredients comes eerily naturally to the coordinator. It’s a shame this skill doesn’t properly translate to food he can cook for himself. But at least it means he can enjoy his time in Solaceon with Matilda. The girl was always happy for his and his Pokemon’s company and well, does she even need excuses to bake more poffins? Not really. But Wylan provides those anyway.
The magical leafs that come about as a result of Gigi’s excitement fade and dissolve over time, but its still worth it to pluck them away from her hair. He turns to the culprit, being chased by another Lilli-ah, no, that was Dia’s Ditto- but can’t help but smile at their frolicking.
“Don’t do much? Oh come on. You know how much my team can eat. Every little bit counts.” Wylan chuckles while pulling out the last of the leaves, letting them curl on the air again from the oven’s draft as he goes to check on how they’re coming along. “I will, however, definitely not deny that Gigi is special. Perhaps too special.” He very lightly mumbles and spoiled under his breath. Likely something that could be caught by Matilda’s sensitive ears, but not enough for the boisterous grass type as it heads outside once again.
“Dang, I was about to ask her to fetch some more berries from outside too.”
@caeciliam sent: She may be slowly getting used to their height difference but that won't stop Matilda from peppering the farmer with kisses. Starting from his hand, to the wrist, all the way up the length of his arm until she leaves many on his neck.
"Welcome home!"
It tickles, the feather light kisses that wander their way up his arm give him goosebumps. It’s a feeling that only intensifies when her lips find a favored spot on the farmer’s neck. He wants to complain that he’s sweaty, probably smells... he’s very much in need of a bath. These words are stifled, if he complained he knew that Matilda would dismiss his concerns. She was, after all, just happy to see him.
“I’m back. I missed you, Matilda.” Her kisses are returned with equal fervor, though... the height difference happens to be limiting for him as well. With her against him like this, her face in his neck he’s stuck with putting his arms around her to place kisses on her forehead as she’s hugged tight. That’s not enough, however... he wants more. And so with only a small moment of effort on his part the woman is scooped up in his arms and lifted so that the same affections could be returned to her.
Her cheeks, her nose, her neck, and of course... a strong kiss on her lips to top it off. There, now he’s feeling much more content with the greeting to his lover.
“Hopefully you didn’t miss me too much?” He asks, still holding her on his arm as he carries her back towards the living room. “The day went a little longer than I expected, after all.” This is normally common, but given that now there was someone waiting for him back at his home... Raguna wonders if he should make a concerted effort to minimize that ‘mistake’.
