Was happy to explain it's not proper etiquette to eat beignets with a fork. And this was a beignet in name only and the only way to eat a real beignet was at Cafe de Monde on a Sunday morning, hungover, with chickory coffee. Real beignets cook best at or below sea level. You won't be able to lick powdered sugar from your fingers with a fork. Not that I've had the experience. After several Sugar Bowls. Or playoffs. Or just because.
